NatWest CEO Dame Alison Rose quits

In a single day, the boss of NatWest has give up the corporate after admitting a “critical error of judgement” over the dealing with of the storm across the closure of Nigel Farage’s checking account.

Rose yesterday apologised after she admitted discussing the closure of Frage’s account at NatWest’s non-public banking arm Coutts with BBC enterprise journalist Simon Jack.

Rose stated: “I recognise that I left Mr Jack with the impression that the choice to shut Mr Farage’s accounts was solely a business one,” she stated.

“I used to be flawed to reply to any query raised by the BBC about this case. I wish to prolong my honest apologies to Mr Farage for the private damage this has induced him and I’ve written to him right now.”

NatWest Group chairman Sir Howard Davies stated: “The Board and Alison Rose have agreed, by mutual consent, that she’s going to step down as CEO of the NatWest Group. It’s a unhappy second.

“She has devoted all her working life thus far to NatWest and can depart many colleagues who respect and admire her.”
